Studies Association

The Modern Greek Studies Association (MGSA), founded in 1968, is an American-based, non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of modern Greek studies in the United States and Canada. Interdisciplinary in orientation, it seeks to stimulate the discovery and diffusion of knowledge about the language, arts, history, politics, economy and society of modern Greece.

The Modern Greek Studies Association is seeking an Editor for the Journal of Modern Greek Studies to succeed the current Editor, Peter Allen, as of September 2009. Printed in two issues every year with Johns Hopkins University Press, the Journal is the leading forum for the publication of scholarship on modern Greek culture and society in English. The Association is looking for an accomplished scholar, fluent in both English and Greek, who can lead the Journal for a period of three years, a term of service that is renewable subject to approval of the Association's Executive Board. The principal duty of the Editor is to supervise the entire editorial process from the initial submission of a manuscript to its eventual publication. The Editor appoints two Associate Editors, a Book Review Editor, Assistant Editor, and members of the Editorial Board, all of whom are subject to approval of the Executive Board of the Association.
Interested applicants should submit a CV and a two-page statement outlining both their vision for the Journal and the type of support they can expect from their home institutions by September 1, 2008 to:
