JMGS Special Sections: Call for proposals

The Editor of the JMGS is keen to receive proposals for special sections of the JMGS that will be published by Guest Editors. Special sections cover specialized topics of current interest within the scope of the JMGS. They are featured in a regular JMGS May or October issues alongside other articles and book reviews.

Those interested in guest editing a special section may send inquiries to the JMGS Editor Artemis Leontis, followed by a proposal of 400-800 words. The proposal should include the special section’s title, description of its subject and the central question, rationale for inclusion in the JMGS including the gap in scholarship it will address, approaches, methodologies, questions, and subtopics, with reference to scholars who are working in the area, or, if the papers are already collected, list of papers ready for submission to for review. Please include a CV for each of the special section editors.

If the proposals are accepted, the Guest Editor(s) are appointed to serve as editors for submissions to the special issue, working in tandem with the Editor and following the JMGS guidelines for editing special sections. The articles are submitted to the JMGS and follow the same double-blind peer review process as other articles in the JMGS. Note that the process of peer reviewing, revising, copyediting, and seeing them to publication may take twelve months or more. Should the special section be cancelled, articles that have undergone JMGS review and been accepted are published in the JMGS.
